Sex offender from Manley sentenced to 18 months probation for failure to register. The Cassgram reports 51-year-old Randy L. Abbott admitted he had forgotten his annual verification with sheriff’s authorities. Abbott is on the Nebraska state sex offender registry and must report every year even though his address has not changed.
While he had fulfilled the verification process in May of 2010, Abbott did not do so in May of this year, said Chief Deputy Cass County Attorney Colin Palm. Abbott pleaded guilty to the Class IV Felony.
Abbott said he accepted responsibility for not returning contact with the sheriff’s office and promised the judge that from now on he will remember that each May, the month of his birthday, he will complete the registration update.
Both the prosecution and defense recommended probation and Cass County District Court Judge Randall Rehmeier agreed.
