There are more construction cones going up, in neighborhoods across Omaha, as road construction season is in full swing.
On Monday there are several street closings around town due to construction projects. One of the longest closures is at 52nd and Country Club Avenue/Grant Street, where work continues on the Sewer Separation Project.
Deb Kelley lives in the neighborhood and says she's gotten used to the dust, rocks, and noise that's practically in her front yard. There has been construction in the area since the beginning of the year.
“The work has to be done and I guess we just kind of sit back and accept it. I'm not saying that I love it all the time, but it has to be done,” says Kelley.
The work that crews are doing is for the federally mandated sewer project that will eventually include separate pipes for waste water and storm water.
On Monday starting at 9:00 a.m. 52nd and Country Club Avenue will be closed in both directions which will cause detours through side streets and an increase in traffic.
The closure is expected to last eight weeks.
