Seven Tubers Rescued From Elkhorn River

It was a close call along the Elkhorn river near King Lake Sunday.

The Waterloo Fire Department rescued seven tubers when the Elkhorn river rose three feet in just four hours.

Rainfall from the Uehling area has the river rising quickly and the water in the river flowing very fast.

The Waterloo Chief said the river is very dangerous.

"The NRD has closed all sites as of right now they predict over the next three or four days it will be closed. Luckily we are coming off of the busy weekend and will be into the work week, so there won't be hardly any traffic out there," said Chief Travis Harlow, Waterloo Fire Department.

The river is predicted to rise a total of seven feet by Sunday evening.

None of the tubers sustained injuries.
