OMAHA When "Late Night with Seth Meyers" aired Tuesday night, those who stayed up to watch in Omaha likely did a double-take.
He's interviewed fellow-SNL alumni and the Vice President since taking over the reigns of 'Late Night.' Tuesday the focus for locals was the WOWT 6 news coffee mug sitting on his desk. It wasn't exactly Peyton Manning shouting "Omaha," but it was yet another shout-out for a city that's enjoyed the spotlight lately.
The WOWT mug joins a long list of TV stations that Meyers' has given a "shout-out" to. WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina helped kick the new tradition off.
The WNCN website explained that the tradition began when their station's marketing director brought up the idea with Meyers, his producers and others tied to the show. The "mug shot" involves Meyers giving a shout-out to a specific area tuning in that evening.
Viewers made it a point to snap photos and send it to the WOWT newsroom. Others took to Facebook and Twitter to point out that they saw the mug.
Joe Smith told us it was "Omahawesome," while Tanisha Bias pointed out that "an Omaha Benson graduate works as a writer for him!"
