Three people were taken by two medical helicopters to CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha following a crash involving an SUV and a pickup west of Griswold, Iowa Friday morning.
Investigators say that 68-year-old Lela Lank was westbound on Highway 92 and 81-year-old Richard McCauley was southbound on CR M47 when McCauley failed to stop at a stop sign, striking Lank's passenger side of her vehicle.
The impact caused Lank's vehicle to flip, landing in a ditch. McCauley's vehicle spun and also ended up in the ditch.
Lank was taken by helicopter to Creighton Medical Center but her condition is not known at this time.
A passenger in her vehicle, 75-year-old Cecil Boos, is in critical condition.
Richard and Patricia McCauley are also in critical condition at Creighton Medical Center.
Locals tell WOWT 6 News this is a dangerous intersection because of a dip in the highway that makes it hard to see if anyone is coming.
