A resident of a metro senior care center was found dead Tuesday in a nearby parking lot.
Family had been notified by staff that Carl Kern wasn’t answering his door at the Woodbridge Senior Village near North 72nd Street and Northern Hills Drive. The family called 911, then began searching. A family friend found the body just before noon.
Douglas County Sheriff's Department deputies found no evidence of foul play. It appears that Kern wandered off and may have died of exposure from the cold. Investigators are awaiting results of an autopsy.
Kern, who was in his 80s, suffered from dementia, heart problems and high blood pressure. Reports indicate he had wandered off twice before.
