One of Senator Tom Harkin's aides will travel to Pottawattamie County in late July. The event is part of a statewide tour, gathering ideas on how to improve economic security.
Laura Sands will be in Council Bluffs Friday, July 26th. The event will focus on The Healthy Families Act. It would allow workers to earn paid sick leave.
Over the next few weeks, Senator Harkin’s staff will visit all 99 counties during this tour.
"I hope that Iowans will attend these events and share their ideas for policies that would help their families,” says Harkin.
Senator Harkin, is pushing for four initiatives his staff will discuss during the tour:
Retirement fund options, allowing workers to earn paid sick leave, raising the federal minimum wage and boosting American manufacturing.
