A man carried away by fast moving water in Bellevue during Friday night's heavy rain was found dead Saturday morning.

The body of 29-year-old David Farr of Bellevue was located just after 9:30 a.m. near a drainage ditch under the Kennedy Freeway south of Highway 370.

Police say a witness saw a car pull into the parking lot of the Birchcrest Apartments, drive into standing water and continue into a flooded Betz Ditch between Fairfax Road and Galvin Road South just after 11 p.m. The witness saw the driver climb out of the vehicle and float on his back, then go under and not resurface.

“From the witness account we kind of knew that it would probably be a tragic end to it, but we were glad that we were able to at least make a recovery as quick as possible,” said Bellevue Police Lt. Keith Bader.

The Bellevue Fire Department was able to remove the submerged car from the ditch and found no one inside. Farr's body was recovered about a mile away.
