Action by the Weeping Water Board of Education this month places an $11.825 million bond question on the mail-in election ballot. The ballots are due into the Cass County Commissioner’s Office by 5pm May 14th, 2013.

The Cassgram reports the public is invited to an open house tonight at 7pm in the Weeping Water school gym to discuss the upcoming bond question. School safety/classroom changes/ADA compliance/HVAC/life safety issues/auditorium changes/parking issues/and many other items will be discussed. School tours will be conducted for those who would like to take one.

In the public notice information supplied to the election commissioner’s office the bonds are “for the purpose of providing a single, comprehensive school building in which to educate all of the District’s school children by (a) paying the costs of renovating, rehabilitating and improving the District’s existing K-12 school building located in Weeping Water, Nebraska, bringing such school building in compliance with current codes, constructing additions to and site improvements for such school building including classrooms and related facilities and a competition gymnasium and related athletic facilities, constructing improvements to the existing parking lots to include paving and lighting and removing the existing portable outbuildings and (b) acquiring and installing necessary furniture, equipment and apparatus for such school building and additions…”

The ballot also includes the necessary language for the bond funding.
