The Sarpy County Election Commission announced Wednesday that the county has surpassed the 100,000 registered voter mark for the first time in its history.

Sarpy is the third such county to surpass 100,000 registered voters behind Douglas and Lancaster.

“Reaching this registration milestone shows the tremendous growth our county has achieved over the last 20 years," said Election Commissioner Wayne Bena. "This is just another reason why Sarpy County is such a great place to live and work. I challenge each one of our 100,000 voters to cast their ballot in this year’s coming elections."

At this time four years ago, the number of registered voters in the county was 92,000.

The statewide primary will be held May 13th and the general election is November 4th. Registration statistics are as follows:

Republicans: 46,550
Democrats: 27,657
Non-Partisan: 25,261
Libertarian: 582
