Sarpy County Names 911 Director

Sarpy County has a new director for its 911 Center. Elkhorn’s Brad Rice, a 29-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, has been named to the post.

Rice spent his last 10 years with NSP serving as a Captain and Troop B Commander in Norfolk. He retired in 2011.

Bellevue Police Chief Mark Elbert said, “I am pleased with the choice and look forward to working with him. He has a proven track record.”

Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes said Rice, “was well recommended by the law enforcement community. He’s driven by the challenge and willing to learn the other side of the dispatching system.”

Rice replaces the retired Larry Lavelle and starts his new position July 21st.
