In anticipation of a lot of traffic heading to and from the NE Crossing Outlet Mall on opening weekend and throughout the Christmas shopping season, the Nebraska Department of Roads has made some changes to the intersection in front of the mall.
The Department of Roads is expecting a 70% increase in traffic once the Nebraska Crossing Outlets open.
The Melia Road intersection has been changed in an effort to make driving to and from the mall safer, reduce confusion and congestion, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Drivers headed northbound can turn right in and out of Melia road, but will not be able to turn left.
There will be a curb installed in the median at the intersection to prevent the left turn.
All vehicles looking to leave the outlets will be directed to the Nebraska Crossing Drive intersection, which has a traffic light to control the flow.
Signs will be posted to guide drivers through the changes.
