Last fall, a longtime employee of Sarpy County was accused of stealing about $1,600 from the county. This week, Patrick Clarke was sentenced to a lesser crime. However, part of his sentence includes paying $7,980.34 in restitution.
Investigators say Clarke took advantage of his position as manager of fleet services by using his county gas credit card to buy about $1,600 worth of gas for his personal vehicle.
Clarke was convicted of theft by unlawful taking more than $200 but less than $500. That is a Class I misdemeanor. He was also convicted of official misconduct, a Class II misdemeanor.
Besides paying restitution, Clarke was also ordered to follow a laundry list of requirements which include 36 months of probation.
