Man charged in two counties with the same offense involving the same victim. He entered a not guilty plea in Cass County District Court. The trial of 33-year-old Todd P. Peterson of Plattsmouth was set for December 3rd. In Cass County, Peterson is charged with sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA Felony.
The Cassgram reports he faces the same count in Sarpy County, where he used to live. He also is charged there with child abuse, a Class IIIA Felony. Peterson entered not guilty pleas in Sarpy County. The trial date there is set for November 12th.
The bond is $100,000 in the Sarpy County cases. He posted bond (10%) in early July.
After his Cass County arraignment, Julie Bear of the public defender’s office asked for a reduction in bond to between $10,000 and $50,000 in the Cass County case. She said Peterson is not a flight risk.
Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox said the bond was appropriate and it had already been reviewed at the county court level where it was kept the same.
Judge Randall Rehmeier continued the bond at $100,000 and Peterson remained in the Cass County Jail today
