Salvation Army Continues To Offer Relief From Heat

The Salvation Army community cooling centers are open to people who need a break from the extreme heat on Tuesday, July 22 from 8am to 8pm at the Kroc Center, 2825 Y Street, North Corps, 2424 Pratt Street, Lied Renaissance Center, 3612 Cuming Street, as well as from 830am to 430pm in Council Bluffs at 715 N. 16 Street.

Cold drinks will be provided to anyone seeking respite from the hot weather. Cooling stations will open when temperatures reach 90 degrees or above for two consecutive days.

The Salvation Army is in great need of donations of new fans or money to purchase new fans. Fans are given to qualified individuals through the Summer Fan Program.

To donate online, log on to GiveSalvationArmy.org. New fans can be dropped off any time of day at The Salvation Army, 3612 Cuming Street.

Metro area Westlake Ace Hardware stores are accepting monetary donations for the purchase of new fans through August 3.
