Remember Peony Park? This weekend you will have the chance to purchase Peony Park memorabilia at an auction. Channel 6 News got a sneak peek of some of the items.

When you take a look inside the warehouse you see hundreds of items, but they aren’t just any items. They are from Peony Park.

“It’s a major attraction when you are talking about Omaha, you can’t tell Omaha’s history without talking about Peony Park,” said Tom Millie with The Auction Mill.

Items like park tickets, signs and games all trigger many memories for people who went there. “I remember I have old family photos of me riding some of the rides and that brings back memories, but being able to touch the actual items too, it’s a very unique opportunity,” said Brian Pfeifer with The Auction Mill.

It’s unique because most park items were auctioned off when the park closed in 1994. Carl Jennings, who used to work at the park, acquired many of the items and has now decided to part ways with them.

Auctioneers say there’s a lot of excitement about the auction locally and nationally. Auctioneers expect the pinball machines to be a favorite of buyers. They believe the games could go from $500 to $2,000. They also think scales will be a hot item. You stand on the scale and one answers a question or another tells you your health.

You can also find a part of a ride, T-shirt or ballroom doors from when the park first opened in 1919. Auctioneers say there are over 1,000 items. They say it was tough for Jennings to say goodbye, but he felt it was time.

The Auction Mill will hold the auction on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Regency Lodge, 909 South 107th Avenue. There will also be an auction preview on Friday from 7-9 p.m.

You can also bid for items online. Click on the link below for more information.
