Papillion Keeps Economic Momentum Going

Papillion is taking steps to add jobs and bring more development to the city.

At its last meeting, the City Council heard the first reading to rezone the southeast corner of 72nd Street and Highway 370 where the new SAC Federal Credit Union headquarters will be located. The $20 million project will keep SAC in Sarpy County and add new jobs.

“We needed to find a location that had high visibility and would meet our needs for the next 30 years and the site at 370 and 72nd Street was perfect,” says Cynthia Buettner, vice president of marketing for SAC Federal Credit Union.

Papillion Mayor David Black says that in the last few years, Papillion has added or retained about 1,500 jobs. “Even with a little bit of the downturn, we continue to have businesses open. It shows a healthy environment and there's momentum and keeping that momentum is a big deal.”

A $200 million data center project is also being rezoned at 114th Street and Cornhusker Road.
