A gas leak west of Red Oak, Iowa forced several residents from their homes Saturday morning.
Montgomery County emergency management director Brian Hamman said a homeowner cut a natural gas line while digging in his yard about 10:20 a.m.
Fire crews evacuated four houses and closed roads in the area while the one-inch line was repaired. Residents were allowed to return around 1 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
