A sight of the season is ugly sweaters and more than 3,000 participants decked out in their most garish outfit took part in Sunday's 5K run in Omaha.
Starting at the CenturyLink Center, each runner was given a vintage hat, mustache, beer for those of age and unlimited hot chocolate. The runners brought gifts that were donated to the local Toys For Tots chapter.
"Everybody likes to dress up for any type of holiday theme, so we went with the ugly sweater theme and we seem to be getting a pretty good turnout,” said event coordinator Jenna Velardi. “So it's pretty fun for people to either find a ridiculous ugly sweater at a thrift store or make their own."
