Each year, over 4,000 sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers were killed while walking in neighborhoods or crossing streets, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It's those victims, along with thousands who die from all manners of unsafe driving behaviors, that hundreds of Omaha residents are lacing up their sneakers to Run to Remember.
Join Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 and WOWT NBC Omaha for the 3rd Annual 5k Run/Walk to Remember. The event will be held on Saturday, May 3 at the Skutt High School track.
Registration is available online or at the race itself. Funds raised through the event will benefit Keep Kids Alive Drive 25, a national non-profit organization started in Omaha. The group is dedicated to targeting traffic safety education in communities throughout the U.S.
Organizers encourage participants to wear something to remind themselves of a loved one -- a wristband, piece of clothing, or jewelry. They idea is to celebrate the life and love our loved ones have shared and continue to share with us.
