Roofer Takes Money But Doesn't Come Back

The day after a hail storm in 2011 a retired Council Bluffs couple got a knock on the door. A roofer promised them a fair deal and quick work. Instead the homeowners who paid half down are still waiting for the first shingle 14 months later.

Sonny Carter paid Strategic Contracting Network $4,000. Sonny said, "We just hope and pray every time there's a rain storm that it doesn't start leaking." The Better Business Bureau has an F rating on the company. BBB President Jim Hegarty said the company is associated with a fraud suspect in Colorado. Hegarty told Sonny' "It seems law enforcement has tracked him down but the bad news is there may be a lot of people in line to try and get their money back.'

Hegarty is hoping a local roofer will help the couple. Sonny said the lost $4,000 hurt his ability to afford both a roof and siding replacement. Both hit hard by the hail storm in August 2011. Fact Finders found all the phones for Strategic Contracting Network disconnected. The Suite list on its business card is just a mail drop box.
