A roofing contractor has been arrested for taking payments and not doing any work. Officers took the company owner into custody early Tuesday morning in Omaha.
27 year old Jeremiah Childers was arrested at his home. The fugitive task force received a tip where to find Childers who may have been tipped off himself. Fugitive task force leader John Huggins of the U.S Marshals Service said, “He was leaving as we pulled up and we did block his car in and arrest him in his driveway. He didn’t offer any resistance.”
Jason and Sandy Christiansen of Herman, Nebraska allege Childers’s company Storm restoration took their insurance claim check for $13,000 more than a year ago. No work was ever done on their hail damaged roof and siding. The endorsed cashed check has Childers’s name stamped for deposit only.
An 82 year old woman filed a similar criminal complaint with Otoe County after she paid Storm restoration $2,000.
Childers faces felony theft charges in Washington and Otoe counties.
Childers claimed a partner is responsible for the company's financial problems and there was no intent to take customers money and not do the work.
