The third annual Band Build Concert benefiting Habitat Omaha sold out Saturday night at the Waiting Room Lounge.
Organizers thanked all the bands that performed, including Icky Blossoms, Blue Bird, LIFE is COOL and John Klemmensen and the Party.
We've seen abandoned and deteriorating houses spread across the metro. Habitat Omaha buys these houses, tears them down and builds new ones in their place, benefiting those in need.
Band Build will help raise money to help build and renovate old houses. One of the headlining bands, Icky Blossoms, even shot a music video inside a vacant house for their hit single, “Perfect Vision.”
Organizers say it's all to raise awareness of the need to eliminate poverty housing in Omaha. “We just really believed in the cause,” says Band Build Chairman Matt Guzallis. “We like what they do as opposed to just giving out handouts and they will actually have a lasting impact on families with these houses and creating opportunities for them."
Band Build is Saturday night at the Waiting Room Lounge at 62nd and Maple streets in Omaha. The music starts at 8 p.m. with tickets costing $10. You may get them online at habitatomaha.org.
