A Des Moines man accused of robbing a check-cashing store tried to get rid of the evidence by flushing it down the toilet.
Twenty-four-year-old Daron Thomas is charged with first-degree robbery and interference with official acts. He was booked in the Polk County Jail on Friday.
Police say after the robbery, Thomas fled to a nearby KFC restaurant and hid in the bathroom where he tried to flush the cash, clogging the toilet.
Thomas was taken into custody. A plumber was called to recover the evidence.
