Road Closing Due To New Bridge Construction

New railroad bridge construction will necessitate the closing of River Road east of Plattsmouth at various times during the next year. Closings are to begin next month.

The Cassgram reports The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad is building a new 1,676 foot, single line bridge between the existing bridge and the Highway 34 Bridge. The construction process is to begin March 1st, said David Duke, the project manager for Ames Construction.

During work on a new support pier in the Missouri River, Duke estimated that there will be day closings of River Road (7am to 5:30pm or so) from March 15th to March 30th. It’s projected the road would be completely closed down from April 1st to April 30th.

After April 30th the road would be open until fall. Duke said it’s anticipated that River Road will be then be closed from November 1st through February of 2013.
