A Council Bluffs Public Works road crew worker was injured directing traffic in a morning accident near Interstate 80 and Madison Ave according to Council Bluffs Police.
The city employee was guiding cars around 8:30 Wednesday morning, in an area where crews were working to repair potholes and clean the street. That's when a car that was stopped was rear ended by the car behind it. The first car was forced into intersection and collided with the worker, who rolled up and over the hood of the car, across the median and was pinned under his own work truck. Police said he broke his pelvis and was taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center.
The driver of the car that was rear ended was also taken to a local hospital for observations. And the person behind the wheel of the second was issued two tickets, one for lack of insurance and the other for failing to maintain a proper distance according to investigators.
