An important route south of the metro to reopen soon. The road has been closed since October 15th during the construction of the new Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad bridge over the Missouri River.
The Cassgram reports David Duke, the project manager for Ames Construction, told Cass County Commissioners this week he had some “good news.” The construction pace has advanced a little ahead of schedule, he said, and it’s anticipated—weather permitting—that the stretch of county road east of Plattsmouth along the river will be opening by February 25th. There is still some construction clean-up and then re-graveling to do, and then the county roads department and District 2 County Commissioner Janet McCartney will do a drive-through inspection with Ames company officials before the opening.
The schedule announced last fall pegged the re-opening for March 1st.
