Retirement Pay For Omaha Police Chief

Omaha police chief Alex Hayes will retire at a large percentage of his current salary.

Channel Six reporter Brian Mastre confirmed with the mayor’s office that Hayes will receive a $127,000 annual pension.

Hayes, 48, currently makes a salary around $145,000. He's been with the department for more than 25 years and as chief -- 2 1/2 years.

His final day on the job is March 30.

Mayor Jim Suttle plans to name an interim chief before the end of the month.
