Retail Sales In Smaller Communities Show Boost


Economic sign of improvement. The Nebraska Department of Revenue’s Net Taxable Sales Report, comparing January 2013 to January 2012, shows Cass County with a 1.4% increase to $7,622,809. In the Plattsmouth city limits, January sales were up 7.9% to $3,773,644.

(The December ’12 report had Cass County with a 3.0% sales decrease and Plattsmouth with a 5.0% increase over a year earlier.)

Statewide, January 2013 taxable sales were 8.1% higher than in 2012.

The January report for neighboring counties: Otoe [+2.3%], Lancaster [+7.2%], Saunders [+0.2%] and Sarpy [+41.6%].

Nearby cities: Ashland [-2.3%], Bellevue [+3.4%], Nebraska City [+1.8%], Papillion [+125.3%], Springfield [+2.6%] and Syracuse [+2.7%].

---The NDR’s January Net Taxable Motor Vehicle Sales Report said Cass County posted a 5.4% increase when compared to the same month in 2012. Taxable motor vehicle sales totaled $4,704,200.

Statewide vehicle sales were up 2.9%.
