A teenage boy was killed and a teenage girl wounded Sunday morning in Omaha.
Officers called to 21st and Binney just before 2:30 a.m. found 16-year-old Montrell Wiseman dead and 16-year-old Desjuha Wilkinson wounded.
"He was just laying on the side of the ground," said Danisha Davis, Montrell’s cousin. He was standing outside when a van drove up and someone inside opened fire. A few shots went into a front door. “Hit him and another girl and then walked on by him and shot him again and left. They just left him there."
Wilkinson was taken to Creighton University Medical Center and is expected to survive. "She got hit in the leg,” says Davis. “The bullet got her in her leg. She was at the hospital and they said she gets to go home today, I think.”
Montrell's friends set up a memorial outside his house on Sunday. Danisha and others are making sure they show others he was loved. “Him telling me to keep my head up, every time I had a problem I'd go to him,” said Sina Johnson. “He always had my back."
Danisha wears a button in honor of her friend Eton Burns, who was shot and killed last year. Danisha is 16 years old and has already lost several friends to violence. “I lost Etienne, Treyvon, Calvin, him and the list just goes on. My friend's just dying.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 402-444-5652.
