Donations to The Salvation Army's Tree of Lights campaign are behind last year's rate of contributions.
Through December 17th, the campaign had raised a total of $1,641,545, which is 54.7% percent of the $3 million goal. This is 11% behind the 2012 campaign.
Of the total, nearly $371,000 has been donated directly to the 100 plus Red Kettles sites around the Omaha metro. The remaining balance was given through the mail, online and through the generosity of local businesses.
Bell ringers are still needed through Dec. 24. Volunteers can sign up to ring at one of our many Red Kettle sites in Omaha. Sign up online at ringomaha.org or call 402.898.6000.
