Real Life Robbery Reads Like Fiction

Preliminary hearings for the two people accused of possessing money stolen in the Sac Federal Credit Union robbery have been set.

The Cassgram reports 29-year-old Gabriel L. Coen and 31-year-old Brandi L. Coen, both of Plattsmouth, are scheduled to next appear in Cass County Court on March 14th. They each are charged with theft by receiving, more than $1500, a Class III Felony. (Cassgram archives 2/21/13) Both have posted bond (10% of $15,000) and are out of jail.

They are the second and third individuals to be charged with possessing money taken in the December 7th credit union armed robbery. The first individual, 21-year-old Caleb Searcy of Plattsmouth, pled guilty last week to the Class III Felony and is in Cass County Jail awaiting sentencing on April 1st.

The Coens and Searcy are mentioned many times in the 19-page “Affidavit in Support of Arrest Warrant” which is in of each of the Coens’ court files. The affidavit, which was entered into the record on February 19th, provides an insight into what investigators are going through in trying to determine who is responsible for the robbery.

There are 17 people—including the Coens and Searcy—who have been questioned or are believed to possibly have knowledge about the case. One was a jail inmate at the time of the robbery. Two of the remaining 13 appear to be central figures in the investigation but have not been charged with anything related to the robbery.
