A Plattsmouth, Nebraska woman was arrested after a pursuit that began in Omaha and ended in Pottawattamie County Tuesday night.
OPD terminated the pursuit around 11 p.m. when the car crossed over into Iowa where a Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department deputy spotted the vehicle on eastbound Interstate 80 and tried to pull it over. The driver, believed to be armed, wouldn't stop.
Deputies deployed a tire deflation device west of the Underwood exit, but the driver continued to elude authorities as the tires began to deflate, maintaining a speed of 70 mph on the rims.
The car exited I-80 northeast of Neola and kept going until the rims came apart on Tamarack Road where the driver pulled into a private driveway, got out and ran. Deputies caught the suspect and she was taken into custody.
Twenty-two-year-old Rebecca White was taken to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs after she complained of pain. While being checked, a deputy was advised by a nurse that drugs were found in White's bra. The deputy tested the substance, which turned out to be methamphetamine.
White was later taken to the Pottawattamie County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance, eluding authorities, reckless driving and not having a valid driver’s license.
