Omaha's City Council will soon decide on an issue proving to be very controversial.
It seems harmless but the empty lot at 192nd and Leavenworth is gaining a lot of attention. It's zoned as agricultural land now, but developer, DP Metro Capitol, wants the City Council to re-zone the land. They want to turn it into an apartment complex. Many people living nearby in the Grove neighborhood are furious.
Two weeks ago, City Council voted three to three. Since then, the developer agreed to construct 50 fewer units. The City Council will once again vote on July 1.
