The Audubon Society of Omaha held their annual prairie festival on Sunday.

Hikers, botanists, and nature lovers were treated to a tour of the prairie grasses to see what Nebraska looked like before development.

Glenn Pollock, the prairie manager, said this is the perfect time to see the eight foot tall grasses and all the wildlife.

"We're observing what was in bloom and the condition of the prairie, looking at the insects, butterflies, and soil conditions," he said.

The event also had lemonade and cookies set out for festival goers to encourage them to pull up a lawn chair and see what the prairie has to offer.
