There is no doubt that the winner of the February 11th Powerball drawing will take the cash option. Louise White of Newport, Rhode Island came forward Tuesday as the winner of the $336.4 million jackpot. She is 81 years old.
White purchased the winning ticket for the multi-state game at the Stop & Shop Supermarket in Newport. Since she chose the cash option, she will receive $210-million (pre taxes).
Her other option would have been to accept the winnings over a 30-year period.
At a news conference Tuesday, White said, "I'm very happy and I'm very proud and this will make my family very happy. we are truly blessed. Thank you."
The jackpot was the sixth largest in U.S. history.
Powerball is played in 42 states, including Nebraska and Iowa, plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
