One of the two winning Powerball tickets for an estimated $587.5 million jackpot was sold near Kansas City. The other winning ticket was sold in a suburb of Phoenix.

The Missouri ticket was sold at a Trex Mart along Interstate 29 near Dearborn, located between St. Joseph and Kansas City. The Arizona ticket was sold at a 4 Sons Food Store in Fountain Hills. The winners could split a cash payout of $384.7 million before taxes or about $192 million per ticket.

Neither winner has come forward to claim their prize, but there is no rush. Each winner has six months to do so.

The Missouri Lottery says two $1 million winning Powerball tickets were also sold in the state, one in Joplin and the other in Kansas City. Nationwide, there were eight, $2 million winning tickets.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and the Powerball was 6. At the peak of the buying frenzy, lottery officials say Powerball tickets sold at a rate of 130,000 a minute.

"We had actually 58 people that matched all five of the white balls for $1 million in cash, so I wouldn't want to be tearing anything up until you knew for sure what you had for a winner,” said Sue Dooley with Florida Powerball.
