American community survey reveals glimpse of poverty in Southeast Nebraska. The following is the ‘Poverty and Participation in Government Programs’ summary from the U.S. Census Bureau:
In 2009-2011, 6 percent of people in Cass County were in poverty. Seven percent of related children under 18 were below the poverty level, compared with 4 percent of people 65 years old and over.
The Cassgram reports four percent of all families and 8 percent of families with a female householder and no husband present had incomes below the poverty level.
