An investigation into a large scale drug operation at two homes northwest Omaha has yielded marijuana, money and weapons. A husband and wife are under arrest.

Police monitored three residences for months after receiving an anonymous tip and learning that two homes had unusually high electric bills.

Thirty-two-year-old Larry Christiansen is locked up in the Douglas County Jail, his accommodations a lot different from the ones he enjoyed as a free man. One of his homes is located on the first hole of the Players Club at Deer Creek near 120th and Military. It’s a nice place for a guy who hasn't held a job in almost eight years.

Police say Christiansen and his 43-year-old wife Michelle didn't really live there. They were just using the place to grow marijuana. Four hundred and twenty marijuana plants and eight pounds of dried marijuana were confiscated by police.

Tom Wilson lives across the street and always knew something was wrong. "We never got a chance to really know them when they pulled up in their driveway, opened the garage door and immediately shut the garage door. So we never had a chance to walk over and say hi."

According to police, the Christiansens also had a pot operation going on at a house near 162nd and Young, a few blocks away from a school. Police also raided that place.

Officers also seized several vehicles, six assault rifles and $146,000 cash at both homes, all allegedly connected to the drug growing operation.

Tim Schuman lives in the area. He has four kids and he also thought something about the couple just didn’t fit into the family dominated neighborhood. “We did have suspicions, seeing the schedule they were running. They were in and out and would be there for one hour and they would never really talk to any of the neighbors. Even more shocking, everyone has kids and they're within two-and-a-half blocks of a school.”

Larry and Michelle face charges of intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of firearms in connection with a drug violation. Larry is being held on a $750,000 bond. Michelle was released after posting $2,500 bond.

The couple also has a town home apartment at 157th and Larimore where they apparently lived.
