David Graves is jailed in Douglas County facing charges in a pornography investigation. He was arrested by Bellevue Police.
He was charged in Sarpy County for seven counts of delivery of obscene material to a teenaged male and charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography in Omaha. He's in Douglas County’s custody because those charges are more serious. They are felonies.
Bellevue police say they found at least eight pornographic images on Graves' cellphone. Investigators say the Omaha man had been exchanging pornographic material with a juvenile older than 12-years-old in Bellevue.
Bellevue Police Investigator Laurie Synowiecki said, "The juvenile reported to his parents of the inappropriate contact with Graves and they contacted police."
Investigators say the juvenile was a family acquaintance of David Graves. They met in September at a get-together. Detectives say the 41-year-old let them see his cellphone when they confronted him.
The need for experts who analyze cell phones and computers for evidence in these types of crimes has escalated. The Bellevue Police Department recently added a second full-time detective just for this type of crime.
Synowiecki said, "We have so many of them involving cell phones and electronic exchange of information."
We've learned that part of that process also centered on Facebook accounts. It's a lengthy process. Detectives sometimes have to search for things that appear to be deleted but are not.
David Graves has not yet seen a judge. That should take place on Monday.
