Poll Workers Honored

During elections poll workers are entrusted to maintain the integrity of the system, keeping things fair and honest.

On Wednesday, 21 Douglas County poll workers were inducted into the Hall of Fame at the county election office.

You need 20 years of service to be considered for the Hall. Many of those honored have worked much longer than that.

Jan Anderson and Joe Bonaiudo were among the honorees.

Joe said, "I’ve been doing it over 20 years. Just something I enjoy doing and it is nice meeting a lot of people.”

Jan told us, “I have been doing it for 28 years. And I started because I got the letter in the mail and I have just kept on going."

The honor is given every two years.

One inductee has been a poll worker for 34 years. She’s 90.
