School is out, but it’s a great time for some young people to be back in the classroom. The subject: law enforcement.
Officers with the Northeast Precinct are sharing their expertise over the next few days. Kids learn what it’s like to be an officer and about different units in the department.
Captain Scott Gray said the classes are important in order to build trust with the community. “The kids can learn a little bit about the officers and we can learn from them. They have good input and questions, maybe break down some of those barriers and prevent some misunderstandings."
The classes are held every year. Around 23 kids signed up for this one.
