Omaha police believe speed was a factor in a crash that sent two women to the hospital early Sunday morning.
Police say 21-year-old Tayler Gillett, of Bellevue, was driving a Lexus RX300 SUV when she lost control on the curve at the I-80/I-480 interchange, near 32nd Street, shortly after one a.m. The car went off the highway and rolled over. Her passenger, 22-year-old Kayla Botsford, of Bellevue, was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Botsford is being treated for a skull fracture and numerous other injuries.
Gillett was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries to her face and head; those injuries are not considered life threatening.
Investigators say neither woman was wearing a seat belt. They add that charges in the case are pending.
