Thursday was a great day for a little fun in the park so the Omaha Police Department served some up at 30th and Redick.
The Miller Park celebration was the sixth annual edition of the free event featuring a bicycle raffle, free bicycle helmet giveaway, free swimming, OPD safety displays, free food, and even a dunk tank.
The day focused on children. It's designed to provide youth a positive opportunity to engage with law enforcement.
Melton Edwards was out there and told us, “I think they are doing a great job. They just need help from the community to help them. That's all we need to come together and quit thinking the police put us in trouble. We do it ourselves."
The event was scheduled to continue through 8 p.m.
