Three suspected carjackers are in custody. Donvelle Davis, 19, and two 16-year-old boys have been booked for robbery and a variety of other charges in connection with the incident that happened early Wednesday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., the victim told police he was walking to his car near 37th and Boyd when three men approached and pointed a gun at him. The men got into his vehicle and drove off to the west.

The victim described his vehicle as a green 1995 Cadillac Deville.

Officers noticed the stolen vehicle at 24th and Fort Street at 12:40 Wednesday afternoon. They attempted a traffic stop and three male suspects fled from the vehicle. Police say one of them was armed with a handgun.

Dori Harshbarger heard tires squealing and ran to get her children off the street.

“After I got the kids to come in the house, the black kids come running through the yards and that’s when I noticed the cops were behind them. And then the one who tried to cut down the alleyway got smashed from one of the cruisers which I don’t think was right. They should have just jumped out and got him anyway instead of hit him with the car. They smashed the windshield. Now the kid’s sitting over here hurt.”

The suspect did receive medical attention at the scene. There is evidence that a police car did aid in the arrest.

Dori is relieved that no innocent children were hurt in the incident but she doesn’t like the way the situation was handled.

She said, “They shouldn’t have been coming through here that fast. There’s 50 to 60 kids play on this corner every single day. All the cars that come up this block know that the kids play here. They shouldn’t have came through here like that.”

Police chased and eventually caught all three suspects. Authorities said Wednesday night that they had also located the gun.

Donvelle Davis has been booked for Robbery, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Obstructing, Hit and Run misdemeanor, Colliding with a Fixed Object, and Driving Under Suspension.

One of the 16-year-olds has been booked for Robbery, Use of a Weapon, Obstructing, CCW-handgun, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Minor in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Transport of a Firearm.

The other 16-year-old was booked for Robbery, Use of a Weapon and Obstructing
