Police Response Sends Message

Omaha Police want you to know that every complaint called in to the department will be treated seriously. An example happened in a South Omaha neighborhood Friday morning when an anonymous call brought in police.

Officers made no arrest in the incident but their message was clear.

The neighborhood around 43rd and Arbor is usually calm and quiet. Neighbors look out for each other.

On Friday morning, someone in the neighborhood called police when they believed there could be trouble on the block.

OPD Sgt. Kevin Housh said, "We got a radio call here from an anonymous caller about some parties getting out of several vehicles with guns going inside the house."

Police surrounded the house. The front door was open and there was no answer when police called in. A police dog was brought to the scene, officers make entry and two people inside were brought out.

People who live in the neighborhood are happy to see the police respond.

Jillian Frans said, “I'm really glad to see police reacting to a situation that needs to be addressed."

This time no one was arrested. No wrongdoing was discovered but the people who live in the neighborhood know their calls for help will be answered.

If you ever need to call Crime Stoppers, make sure you give police as many details as you can and co-operate with police if they need more information.

The Crime Stoppers number is 402-444-STOP.
