Two suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting Friday night that sent a man to the Nebraska Medical Center in serious condition.
Police on patrol near North 31st Street and Ames Avenue in Omaha witnessed several men fighting in the parking lot east of Phil's Foodway around 9:45 p.m. The officers saw an armed man get out of an SUV and fire two shots, wounding 38-year-old Antonio Taylor in the neck.
The SUV took off and a pursuit began. It was pulled over near 33rd Street and Grand Avenue. The passenger, 25-year-old Tyrone Brooks was identified as the man who opened fire. The gun was recovered. He was booked for second-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony and defacing/altering a firearm.
The driver, 25-year-old Yavonne Moore, was booked for being an accessory to a felony and flight to avoid arrest.
The shooting occurred about three blocks away from the shooting Thursday afternoon where a man died and two others were critically wounded.
