Omaha police make a quick arrest following a carjacking and pursuit that all started at a car wash in Council Bluffs Saturday afternoon.
A cab driver was using the vacuum cleaner at Bucky’s Car Wash on West Broadway just before 1 p.m. when the suspect, Ronald Valla, punched him in the head. Valla then drove away in the Happy Cab van.
A short time later, Omaha police caught Valla following a chase. Charges are pending.
Happy Cab can track its fleet using software that was able to follow the stolen cab. “This ended much better than it could have,” said Happy Cab’s John Davis. “He had little to no regard for public safety. We saw him after police apprehended him, no remorse whatsoever."
The taxi driver was taken to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs with minor head injuries.
