No, it's not a break dance competition. Omaha Police are being proactive about helping families avoid becoming burglary victims.

The trash and recyclables left at the curb in the days following Christmas can attract burglars to your home, letting them know where to strike next.

To help prevent that from happening, the Omaha Police Department is hosting Operation Break-It-Down.

Omaha residents can take their electronics cardboard boxes to The Christian Academy, 10233 Wiesman Drive (adjacent to the Northwest precinct) on Thursday, December 26th.

The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the same hours again on Friday.

Only broken-down boxes will be accepted.
