A man surrendered peacefully ending an hour-long standoff in Omaha Thursday morning.
Police were called to a home near 59th and Browne around 8 a.m. for a family disturbance. The caller reported that her grandson was destroying the house and threatening to harm others. Officers were able to get everyone else out of the house and called in a negotiator.
“Ideally, that's how we like to do it,” said Omaha Police Lt. Marcia Janucik. “We just make sure that we have a lot of options available to the officers for their safety and for the party that's inside."
The suspect's name has not been released.
